July fireworks


A lightning strike whips across the sky Wednesday evening above Skyline Drive while a severe thunderstorm passes over the southern part of Gillette. Gillette received 0.01 inches of rain according to the automatic observer National Weather Service in Rapid City, S.D. There were no reports of hail Wednesday in the county, but Gillette received light rain Thursday morning. There was 40 percent chance of severe thunderstorms Thursday night and a 30 percent chance of rain Friday. - News-Record photo by Nathan Payne
