The first County Commission meeting in January still will have the current set of commissioners, including Chris Knapp and Steve Hughes who lost their seats in the last election.

Garry Becker and Mark Christensen, who replace the two outgoing commissioners, won't be sworn in to the commission until Jan. 7.

Christensen will take their place on the board for the subsequent Jan. 15 commission meeting.

The fact that the newly elected commissioners won't be conducting business during the first commission meeting of the year is an unusual development owing to the fact that the first Tuesday of the month, when commissioners would ordinarily be sworn in, falls on the New Year's holiday.

Though the first Tuesday of the month is typically the first commission meeting, the first commission meeting of 2013 has been moved to Jan. 2 to avoid falling on New Year's Day.

The business at the Jan. 2 meeting will include the usual beginning of the year business for the commission, including liquor license renewals and selection of a county commission chairman.
