Wyodak may produce a bit more coal in 2013

Posted: Saturday, February 2, 2013 12:00 am | Updated: 10:57 am, Tue Nov 5, 2013.

Black Hills Corp. expects coal production at its Wyodak mine east of Gillette to be about 4.6 million tons in 2013. That would be slightly up from last year’s production of 4.2 million tons, according to the company’s end of year report released Thursday.

Among the highlights of the last year, company officials talked about the revision of the mine plan which resulted in “reduced mining costs and significantly improved profitability for the year compared to 2011,” Chairman and CEO David Emery said in a conference call Friday.
