First communion rehearsal

Posted: Monday, April 29, 2013 12:00 am | Updated: 3:04 pm, Wed Nov 6, 2013.

Second-grade Communicants Rose Mae Wick and Meghan Jacobson nervously watch their classmates practice walking down the aisle of St. Matthew's Catholic Church Saturday in preparation to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time. There are currently an estimated 2.2 billion catholics in the world for whom the sacrament of Holy Communion is a right of passage. It allows them to consume the Eucharist, the transubstantiated body and blood of Jesus Christ under the form of bread and wine. More than 70 second-grade students from across Campbell County joined together to receive the Eucharist for the first time.
