My enthusiastic approval of the old recreation center location for a new Pioneer Manor is based on the time I spent with my mother during the last months of her life.
I urge the architects to design two front porches where residents can be outside. Each porch could surround a front corner of the building. They could be entered only from the building and have strong solid railing for safety. Residents on both porches could see traffic and pedestrians along Douglas Highway and its side street. Residents on the southeast porch could enjoy extra sunshine and see businesses down the street. Residents on the northeast porch could watch people walking, playing, or picnicking in Lasting Legacy Park. They could see the flags and memorial to American heroes. They could be a part of city activities.
