GARF paints the town purple

Posted: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 12:00 am

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Gillette Abuse Refuge Foundation is "painting the town purple" this October to help raise awareness of this devastating crime in our community.

The purple ribbons you see in the downtown area are displayed to show support for victims and survivors of domestic violence. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women in the U.S,. more common than automobile accidents, muggings, and cancer deaths combined.
