3900 BLOCK ARIEL AVENUE: A dispute that began with a 39-year-old man yelling at a pair of men about how close they parked to his wife’s vehicle led to his arrest Sunday morning after he allegedly escalated the situation by threatening the men with a pistol. Police say Matthew Dearl Butrick was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault after he pointed a handgun at two other men. The 43-year-old man and 30-year-old man said Butrick began yelling profanities at them when the older man parked too close to Butrick’s wife’s car. He then threatened to get a gun and shoot them. When the men left the apartment building they were visiting, Butrick followed them to the parking lot carrying a handgun and pointed it at them while they drove away. Officers who arrested Butrick executed a search warrant on his apartment and found a handgun. In addition to the felony charge, Butrick likely will face two misdemeanors, one for breach of peace and another for interference with officers, Police Lt. Brent Wasson said.
