Gillette sophomore Tyler Cox continued his winning surge for the University of Wyoming wrestling squad on Sunday.
Competing at the NWCA National Duals in Columbia, Mo., the Pokes finished fourth in their region after losing to No. 16 Purdue 20-16 and Maryland 20-12.
But Cox was one of three sophomores for the Cowboys who went 2-0. He has now reeled off nine straight wins since Jan. 6.
Cox also earned his third win over a ranked opponent this season as he downed Purdue's Camden Eppert in a dominant 19-7 major decision at 125 pounds. Eppert was ranked 18th.
The Gillette wrestler also won a 13-11 decision over Shane Gentry of Maryland, as he earned the winning takedown with just a second remaining in sudden-death overtime.
Also going unbeaten were sophomores 157-pound Andy McCulley of Rock Springs and Dakota Friesth, 165.
The Cowboys will wrap up the regular season when they host Air Force on Thursday in Cheyenne.
