Joyce Smith leaned back against a stack of railroad ties and let out a sigh. Despite wearing a hat, her face was red, a clear sign that she had been outside for most of the day.

She didn’t have a chair with her and she was a little too short to get up on the stack of wooden ties to take a seat. So the best she could hope for was to lean back and watch as the horses strode by.
