Alfred Dennis Ruff

Alfred Dennis Ruff, 76, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in El Paso, Texas, after battling kidney disease.
Mr. Ruff, the oldest of six children born to Alfred “Pug” Dennis Ruff and Emma Mae Morris, was born on May 25, 1936, in Wildcat, Wyo. Mr. Ruff was raised and educated in Wyoming and Idaho before moving to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
Mr. Ruff was a civil service electronics engineer at Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1999. Mr. Ruff was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, sailing and spending time with his family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ruff is survived by his wife, Linda, of the family home; a son, Derek Ruff and wife, Terri, of Las Cruces, N.M.; daughters, Kim Buie and husband, John, of Alamogordo, N.M., Cindy Matteson and husband, Wayde, of Apopka, Fla., Debbie Spencer of Dallas, Texas, and a special daughter, Katie Jennings and her son, Richard, of Alamogordo, N.M.; grandchildren, Anthony and Ilea Ruff of Las Cruces, N.M., Dustin Castro of San Antonio, Texas, Morgan and Blair Buie of Alamogordo, N.M., Mikael Matteson of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Krystal Matteson of Apopka, Fla., Nichole Herod of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Joshua Hardy of Minneapolis, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Payton, Jocelyn and Mariela; brothers Butch Ruff of Rozet, Wyo., Dave Ruff of Dubois, Wyo., and Mike Ruff of Wasilla, Alaska.
His parents, a brother, Buck Ruff and a sister, Sharon Winn, preceded Mr. Ruff in death.
A memorial for Mr. Ruff will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at Alamogordo Funeral Home Chapel at 2301 1st Street in Alamogordo, N.M, with Rev. Dr. Thomas Arrowsmith-Lowe, SOSc.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please make charitable donations to the Alamogordo Cancer Resource Center or Animal Village New Mexico, Alamogordo, N.M.
The Ruff family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
