William R. “Bill” Trout, 72, formerly of Gillette, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at his home in Brandon, Miss., after a short illness.

A memorial Mass was held in Brandon on Monday.

He was born April 14, 1940, in Shelby, Ohio, to the late William and Catherine Trout. He was a talented athlete in several sports and received a football scholarship to the University of Wyoming in 1958.

In 1962, he married Norma Jeane Moore of Gillette. The couple had one daughter, Jacqueline. They later divorced.

While in Gillette, he gave freely of his time and expertise in assisting with the Campbell County High School football team. He played on the city men’s leagues in basketball, baseball and bowling. He also was a member of the Jaycees.

At Petrolane Gas, where he worked, he received several promotions throughout the years in Gillette, Newcastle, Florida and Louisiana, rising to district manger and to regional manager for the southeastern United States

He and his wife, Veronica “Roni,” retired to Brandon, where he became an avid golfer and worked for six years in the pro shop of the Castlewoods County Club, where he was a member. He was a competitor and a lifelong fan of all sports.

He is survived by his wife of Brandon; daughter Jacqueline of Lander; brothers Jim and Dave of Shelby, Ohio; sister Kay Reustle of Dover, Pa.; one grandson; and several nephews and nieces
