CASPER, Wyo. — The Natrona County Circuit Court has opened its file concerning felony child pornography charges against former Casper mayor Larry Clapp following a newspaper lawsuit to force release of the information.
The Casper Star-Tribune filed the lawsuit on Monday seeking a higher court order to force the circuit court to open records in Clapp's prosecution. The circuit court opened the file to the public on Wednesday.
The newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/QZTIv5) that the court file includes a statement from investigators saying that they recovered a computer hard drive from Clapp's residence last week that appeared to show videos of juveniles engaging in sex.
The newspaper says it intends to drop its lawsuit now that the file is open.
Clapp will receive a preliminary hearing in coming weeks.
