CASPER — People in Casper are welcoming home a soldier wounded in Afghanistan.
Spc. Colton Sasser is set to arrive at Natrona County International Airport Monday afternoon. From there, he’ll be escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders to his family’s home in Casper.
Sasser was severely injured in April while helping to escort a truck convoy through a mountain valley. A 200-pound bomb hit the armored vehicle he was driving. His squad leader, riding next to him, was killed.
Sasser is returning to Casper after being treated at Walter Reed Hospital and a rehabilitation hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
He’s a member of the 4th Infantry Division, the same unit his father served in during Vietnam.
