Jake White won two events Friday, helping Cheyenne Central it its first-ever boys swimming title at the Class 4A state swim and dive meet.
Central scored 264.5 points, enough to hold off the defending state champs from Campbell County. Senior Collin Baldacci also won two events as the Camels scored 246 points.
"Things just fell Central's way," Gillette coach Josh Bott said. "We had some good swims but it was Central's day."
White, who was named co-athlete of the meet along with Baldacci, won the 50-yard freestyle with an automatic All-American time of 20.44 seconds and took the 100 freestyle with a meet record time of 44.99.
Baldacci set two meet records, taking the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.96 and winning the 100 backstroke with a blistering 49.24.
The Camels also won the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
It would really be a great idea if the author of this article double checked his information. The swimmer from Central that shared Athlete of the Meet with Collin was KYLE WHITE not Jake. Duh, get your facts straight. I am sure you would be insulted if someone were to call Collin by a name other than his own. Saturday, February 23|Report this
