Cheyenne asks voters to fund new airport terminal

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Cheyenne voters are being asked to approve $4.8 million to help build a new terminal at Cheyenne Regional Airport.
The project is one of 11 that would be financed by a sales tax on the ballot Tuesday.
Airport Manager Dave Haring told the Cheyenne Tribune Eagle in Sunday's editions (http://tinyurl.com/9pft93f) the terminal would cost a total of $17.5 million. He says the federal Aviation Administration, the Wyoming Department of Transportation, loans and bonds would cover the rest.
Haring says the current terminal is 50 years old and some of its mechanical systems are in danger of wearing out. He also says the current terminal uses a trailer for a waiting area and has limited space for parking.
One opponent, Cheyenne resident Mark Schnose, says the city has more pressing needs.
