Cheyenne police chief apologizes for delay

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne police chief is apologizing for failing to help a woman who said a man tried to break into her car with her child inside.
Police Chief Brian Kozak met with the woman and apologized for the department's response time on Sunday. He said it won't happen again.
The woman called police for help after a man reportedly tried to enter her vehicle, which was occupied by her unattended 7-year-old son. The mother said she briefly left her son in her vehicle in front of her home.
Kozak said the officer chased a suspect and the department failed to send another officer to help the woman, who waited several hours to talk to an officer.
