A memorial service for Colleen Robin Nygard will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Walker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Frey of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church officiating.
Ms. Nygard, 56, of Gillette, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Close to Home Hospice in Gillette after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 15, 1956, in Valparaiso, Ind., the daughter of Raymond and Janet (Deal) Miller. She grew up in Valley City and Fargo, N.D., and graduated from Valley City High School. Ms. Nygard also later lived in Mitchell, S.D., before settling in Gillette in 1982.
In her work life, she sold magazines in Mexico and Alaska for a couple of years, as well as working as the hostess at Boot Hill Saloon & Grill in Texas. She managed an oil and gas pumping company with her former husband and, for the last few years, worked for Merit Oil Co.
She enjoyed spending time with her loyal friends Candace and Steve Kahl, Val and Chuck Hoskins, and Lance Weber,
Ms. Nygard was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a firm believer in her faith.
She is survived by her parents, Raymond and Jan Miller of Fargo, N.D.; brothers, Raymond Miller of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Rory Miller of Fargo, N.D.; sister Casy Perhus of Fort Worth, Texas; and five nieces.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Mabel Miller, and Rex and Opal Deal; and two uncles.
Memorials to benefit Close to Home Hospice in Gillette or a charity of the donor’s choice may be sent in Ms. Nygard’s name in care of Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY, 82716.
