The restriction on open flames within the county is likely to end Tuesday.
Fire Chief Don Huber approached Campbell County commissioners to tell them that he thought the fire risk had improved to the point where the restriction, in place since the end of June, was no longer needed.
Removing the ban will lift the restrictions on the use of trash fires and acetylene torches that had required people to clear a 10-foot radius around the flame. The previous language also had required the burns to take place between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. and also be in a container that had a spark arrestor.
Fire risk in the county is about the same as it was at the same time last year, Huber said.
Commissioners were prepared to lift the terms of the burn at a morning meeting Thursday. But they decided to wait until Tuesday when it could be recorded as part of their scheduled Tuesday meeting.
