David J. Scanlon, 52, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, of heart failure.
A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Skyline Grill, 469 S. Highway 50, Gillette. Following the service, there will be a luncheon. Flowers may be sent to the Skyline Grill.
Mr. Scanlon was born May 30, 1960, to Edward L. Scanlon and Julia A. Budenz Scanlon (Wright) and raised in Indianapolis, Ind., where he worked as a talented and skilled electrician and owned his own business.
He was the youngest of six children and was raised in Little Flower Catholic Parish in east Indianapolis. In 2004, he moved to Gillette to be near his brother, Michael, and to start a new life. He was a valued employee at Silver Nail Construction for most of his tenure in Gillette. He and his brother started their own company, SMR, but he returned to Silver Nail due to his brother’s illness, where he was welcomed back.
He is survived by his mother, Julia A. Budenz Scanlon of Wright; three sisters, Nancy Bizjak of Peachtree City, Ga., M. Deborah Scanlon of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Kathleen Garrett of Indianapolis; brother, Stephen L. Scanlon Sr. of Georgia; and numerous great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
He will be buried near his brother, Michael Scanlon, who died in 2011in Gillette.
He is preceded in death by his infant son Joshua and father, Edward L. Scanlon.
