JACKSON — Grand Teton National Park officials are delaying a controversial decision on whether to turn a two-way road into a one-way route between Teton Village and Moose.
They had planned to close the stretch of the Moose-Wilson Road to southbound traffic beginning in 2013. Park spokeswoman Jenny Anzelmo-Sarles told the Jackson Hole Daily Monday that the decision will be delayed a year. She said the park will collect data and talk with community members about the proposed change next summer.
Park officials are considering the change to reduce traffic wear and tear on the road. Part of it is gravel, yet traffic has still increased over the years.
If the road becomes one-way, anybody making the short drive from Teton Village into the park would face a long drive to get back.
