Defense attorneys want Hudson slayings case moved

Posted 11/12/12

RIVERTON, Wyo. — Attorneys representing one of the five defendants accused in a double slaying in Hudson want the case moved, saying their client can't get a fair trial in Fremont County because of the "great prejudice" against him.

The Riverton Ranger reports (http://bit.ly/Xt4Wh9) defense attorneys filed the motion last month on behalf of 20-year-old Laziur Stephen Hanway Jr. He is one of five people accused of killing Eric Clinton Likes and his girlfriend, Elva Charlotte Quiver, at Likes' home last year in a robbery plot.

The motion says Hanway's attorneys believe much of the media attention surrounding the case has been "prejudicial and inflammatory."

Hanway has pleaded not guilty to four first-degree murder charges, two counts each of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, as well as arson.
