EPA: Near waste site? Follow rules

ASPEN — The Environmental Protection Agency says residents living around a former superfund waste site must follow strict rules to protect the environment.
The federal agency wants residents living at the base of Smuggler Mountain to be careful when digging up soil on their property.
According to the Aspen Daily News Pitkin County and the city of Aspen have been sending letters to the property owners every five years warning of high concentrations of lead and other heavy metals left over from mining days.
