FAA probing small plane’s emergency landing in SD

Posted 8/28/12

SPEARFISH, S.D. — The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the emergency landing of a small plane near Spearfish over the weekend.

The Black Hills Pioneer reports that Sturgis pilot Bruce Bowen had engine problems after taking off Saturday and was forced to land the single-engine Cessna in a field near the Spearfish airport.

Lawrence County Chief Deputy Joe Harmon says the plane clipped a barbed wire fence and eventually rolled onto its roof. Bowen walked away. He declined comment.
