GOP voters far outnumber Dems in early Wyo. voting

Posted 10/31/12

CHEYENNE — Republicans strongly outnumber Democrats in early voting in Wyoming.

With less than a week to go before the election, almost 20 percent of Wyoming’s registered voters already have cast absentee ballots.

The Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office says that as of Monday, 54,000 people had requested absentee ballots. About 80 percent of those absentee ballots have been cast.

Of the ballots requested, 66 percent were requested by Republicans and 23 percent were requested by Democrats. That’s roughly in proportion with the party breakdown in voter registration in Wyoming right now.

According to the secretary of state, 68 percent of Wyoming voters were registered as Republicans and 21 percent were registered as Democrats as of Oct. 1.
