A 2-year-old girl who was reported missing Saturday afternoon has been found.

The girl was found around 4:25 p.m. Saturday in a vehicle near her home in Gillette.

"It appears she had some how gotten into a vehicle and that's where she was," said Joe Lunne, the public information officer for the city of Gillette.

Lunne said it was his understanding that the girl was alone when she was found. A follow-up investigation is being done by the Gillette Police Department, Lunne said.

The Campbell County Sheriff's Department, Civil Air Patrol, the Campbell County Fire Department and emergency medical services and the police department all assisted in the search. Along with those organizations, Lunne said the community response to the missing girl was overwhelming.

As soon as the bulletin was posted on the City of Gillette's Facebook page, there was an amazing response, Lunne said. Numerous volunteers showed up at Trinity Lutheran Church to assist in searching the neighborhood for the missing girl.

"We're just thankful she's been found," Lunne said.
