Funeral arrangements were completed today for Charles Sackett, 79, a victim of an accidental gun shot Sunday afternoon while he and Dr. J. Clarenbach of Sundance were fishing on Sand Creek about 40 miles from here. Judge Walker Cournow of Lead, S.D., and John Krambach of Deadwood, S.D., were target shooting at a distance of about 150 yards. A bullet struck the Sundance man who had just finished eating his noonday lunch and the two men were sitting in their car. The Deadwood men said they were unaware of the persons from Sundance. A group of bushes and large trees obstructed the view by the two parties.

Superintendent N.D. Morgan has received word from Margaret Guenther that the Campbell County High School pictures will not be published in Life magazine. Miss Guenther, who was the photographer, said the copy was laid out several times, but was crowded out by something else. A set of the pictures was sent the high school and some of them are on display at Ritter’s pharmacy. The letter continued, “both Miss Darby and I want to thank you for your excellent cooperation, and the people of Gillette for their wonderful hospitality. I know that Miss Darby, Miss Garrett and I will never forget our pleasant time spent in Gillette.”

Two rifles that had been taken from a locked pickup truck parked at the Stockman’s Motor Company were recovered with the arrest of two Gillette teen-age boys, Sheriff D.B. Hladky reported. The rifles belonged to Guy Edwards of Gillette. James C. Johnston, 19, and Douglas C. Engstrom, 18, have been arrested and charged with the theft. Johnston was also charged with breaking and entering and grand larceny for the theft of a rifle from Butchers Second Hand store. Both youths have been released on bond, the sheriff said.
