The Gillette Jaycees will again sponsor the Olie Anderson Daredevils in a stunt car performance at the fairgrounds beginning at 8 p.m. Aug. 3. Billed as the royalty of thrill shows, the troupe will present a two-hour show with 24 special events. The Anderson stunt drivers hold more awards for outstanding showmanship and daring acts than any other auto thrill group in the country. At this single performance in Gillette, the Daredevils will exhibit precision driving, high speed head-on crashes, motorcycle jumps and leaps through flaming barricades, a roll-over contest and “slide for life.”

Casper — Bankruptcy again stared Natrona County in the face today as the legal limit of its issuance of certificates on anticipated tax income was reached.
Already $292,000 has been pledged through issuance of the certificates. Banks are prohibited by law from cashing county certificates in excess of that figure. A similar situation was met last year in September when county officials pigeon-holed bills until Jan. 1 when certificates to cover arrearages of $67,000 were issued on this year’s anticipated income. County commissioners were noncommittal but apparently the same procedure will be followed again. Last year’s deficit brought about the trouble but expenses have been cut this year.

Plans are going forward rapidly for the second amateur night program on March 21 at the high school auditorium, sponsored by the men’s 99 class of the Christian Church. Monday is the final day for entering in the competition. Entry blanks are available at Ritter’s Pharmacy. The contestants will appear in four divisions with instrumental, vocal and hillbilly music and readings. It is understood the judges will also act as informal critics and contestants wishing their entry sheets returned may check the comments written on their work. There will be a small admission charge with all proceeds used for prizes and expenses. This is a community service of the 99 class, and is not considered a money-making project.
