Gillette Greenhouse is progressing rapidly in its new location just west of town. One of the two greenhouses has been completed and the framework on the other erected. The houses are built in the form of a U with a long work room to the north and an open space between the two houses for flowers grown in the open. The living quarters of Miss Gretch Loflin, owner of the greenhouse, will be built adjoining the east end of the work room. The boilers for the heating unit are in place and the buildings will have a separate lighting system.

There will be a party for the members of the Woodland Circus Reading club on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the auditorium of the George Amos Memorial Library. The awards earned by the members will be presented at that time. All children of the county are invited to attend the party, which takes place during story hour at 1 p.m. Films will be shown then and also at 10 a.m. The titles of the pictures are “The Story of the Mountains,” “Aladdin’s Lamp” and “The Mother and the Spider.” All book reports must be taken to the library no later than Friday, Aug. 29.

The Gillette Little League Allstars continued to maintain their winning ways with a victory over Newcastle last Saturday in a game played at the local armory field. This was sweet revenge for the local club, since the only team which has defeated them this year was the Newcastle club. In a game played earlier this year, Newcastle won by a score of 8-4. On Saturday, Gillette emerged on top by a score of 18-13. The Allstars journeyed to Newcastle this Sunday afternoon to participate in a tournament being held in that city. Don Dickey and Larry Carstens, managers of the team, indicated that the games would probably begin at about 2 o’clock, and Gillette stands a good chance of winning, if they play the ball of which they are capable.
