Dr. A. G. Mullen assisted by Mr. and Mrs. James Crocker as chaperons entertained a happy party of invited guests at Holy Trinity Rectory Thursday evening of last week. The entertainment consisted of dancing and music and pleasant conversation. Mrs. Crocker rendered several beautiful vocal selections and Mrs. J. E. Osborne and Mr. Albert Dickey on piano and saxophone furnished music for the dancers. Ice cream and cake was served during the evening by Mesdames Gilstrap and Ann Brooke. Those present were: Messers and Mesdames: S.D., Perry, T. G. Brooke.

The Gillette Garage narrowly escaped destruction by fire Tuesday morning. A customer had drained his car, which he was working upon, and set the open can of gasoline on the work bench. A few minutes later one of the workmen started the blow torch near by which ignited the gas and in his attempt to pick the can up to throw it out doors upset it and the blazing gas on greasy floor did the rest. Fortunately the house was well supplied with fire extinguishers which in the hands of the workmen of the garage extinguished the blaze before the arrival of the fire department.

With 183 Campbell county youngsters exhibiting work from 216 projects at the Campbell county fair Aug. 31, Sept. 1 and 2, one of the finest demonstrations in the history of Campbell county is expected. Joe Harrod, president of the fair board, announced that the 4-H exhibit this year will be the first real young people’s exhibit at any of the fairs. Every effort will be made to provide ample room for this departmental exhibit. Ben C. Kohrs, county 4-H leader, stated that the increase in membership in this county will make this fine showing at the fair possible. The 216 projects are divided as follows: 48 baking, 80 clothing, 6 garden, 15 baby beef, 8 poultry, 16 swine, 30 sheep, 21 corn, and 3 dairy.
