Further devastating effects of the wind and hail storm north of Gillette Friday were reported by Mrs. Ford Tharp. The storm came in from the northwest with a terrific roar, the hail stones being an inch in diameter and covering the ground on the level to the depth of several inches. Against buildings and fences the stones piled up to a foot or more. Twenty-four hours after the storm, two bushels were gathered for freezing ice cream. Windows were smashed, roofs bent in, trees stripped, crops leveled, chickens, birds and rabbits killed. Among the ranches in the community struck by the storm were the Hunt, McGee, Landeck, Fulton, Fowlston, Tharp and Mrs. Lloyd. Mrs. Tharp said the destruction was complete on the farms hit by the storm.
