Jack Lewis, dry farmer and wrestler, who has a homestead north of Gillette went to Sheridan last week where he surprised the carnival wrestlers, who were proclaiming to the world their ability to throw any man who had the nerve to take them on or would pay $1 a minute for as long as they could stay. Lewis not only defeated their men but challenged their heavy man Ojiles to a finish match, which he will probably get before the carnival leaves Sheridan. Much to the changing of the carnival outfit Lewis relieved them of $75 for his evening’s entertainment. The Sheridan Post — Enterprise says Lewis got a great ovation from the crowd Friday night. The whole mob accompanied him to the carnival office where he collected his profits.

Gillette has been chosen as one of a number of cities for a test of a snapshot color camera. This camera is made by one of the world’s largest manufactures of snapshot cameras. Because the camera is given without charge and is distributed for testing purposes only, the name of the manufacture is being withheld. The test is to be conducted by Tom Pogue Studio of Tuscaloosa, Ala., one the nation’s best photography studios. Tom Pogue Studio was established in 1954 in Tuscaloosa. Since that time, photographers from this company have photographed over one million individuals and families, traveling in over 25 states, Portraits by Tom Pogue Studio have become valuable and even priceless to their owners as years have gone by.

A Wyoming Hereford Breeders association tour to purebred Hereford breeders, living in northeastern Wyoming is to be conducted Sept. 17 through 19, according to Charles Barkley, association board member. The three day tour is to begin at Hewes Hereford ranch near Sundance at 10 a.m. It is planned to visit with the Glenn and Hank Barlow ranches in the afternoon. They’ll conclude the day at the Barkley ranch where a roast beef dinner will be served to the guests. About 200 persons from all part of Wyoming and out of state were expected to take part in the tour which has not been sponsored in Northeastern Wyoming for about 13 years. Barkley invited all interested persons to be present. Any business or civic groups who wish to contribute in any way with the host meal will be welcomed. The may contact Barkley in this regard. He pointed out that this is the first Hereford Breeders tour which has stopped at any Campbell County ranches.
