From the Nov. 4, 1971 News Record:
Two hunters from Gillette, one a sergeant on leave from the Air Force, were objects of search parties in the Big Horn Mountains last Wednesday and Thursday nights. Although the weather was down about 10 degrees below zero, neither of the men suffered greatly from their ordeal as they showed good self-preservation in taking care of themselves once they realized they were lost. Jim Bridges of Gillette was found Friday morning at a cabin where he had stayed all night, while Sgt. Dave Engdahl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Engdahl of Gillette, survived Thursday night in a cave, where he had built a fire for warmth.
