From the Dec. 25, 1947 News Record:
Townspeople were interested on Monday afternoon in the pet raccoon belonging to Mrs. Oscar Tholson of Rozet. The animal, which answers to the name Bobby, follows its mistress on a leash about town. It is about 9 months of age, Mrs. Tholson having raised it from 3 months of age. She says the pet remains in the house a good deal of the day, has a gentle disposition and loves nuts, candy, sweets, and to ride in cars. It weighs 20 pounds. Mrs. Tholson is seeking a raccoon mate, so that she can raise raccoons as pets for children.
From the dec. 22, 1966 News Record:
It wasn’t “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” but a tame fawn that strolled into the yard of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Spellman at Spotted Horse on Tuesday. Mrs. Spellman said she quickly recognized the fawn as one which had recently given Sheridan authorities a problem. He is so tame that he wanted to live in Sheridan, eating around on people’s shrubs and plants. “The game and fish officers had evidently taken it far enough out of the city that it hadn’t returned. But it still seems to want to be around people. He is welcome to stay as long as he wants to, Mrs. Spellman said.
From the Dec. 2, 1982 Campbell County Record:
Norma Jeane Trout (Moore) of Casper, a native of Gillette and a 1959 graduate of Campbell County High School, has signed a royalty publishing contract with Woodsong Graphics, an East Coast publisher who will publish and promote her first novel “Erik of the Dragon Ships.” The book for young teenagers is a historical novel set in the Ninth Century during the time of the Viking raids. Although this is her first book, Trout did have several of her articles published in national magazines in past years. The book should be ready for sale by mid-1983. It is being published under Trout’s new name, Norma J. Abraham, because by the time the book reaches bookstores she will be married to Don Abraham of Gillette. She is the daughter of Elsie Moore of Gillette and D.B. Moore of Casper.
