Wakefield, Mass. — Miss Gladys Tucker of Wakefield, a South Hampton, N.H., schoolteacher, uses homing pigeons to notify her parents of her safe return after a weekend at home. Miss Tucker has to drive through heavy traffic en route to South Hampton and it worries her parents until they hear from her. She used to telephone or telegraph, but this practice became too expensive. Her father, Martin Tucker, is a breeder of homing pigeons, so she decided to take a few back with her and release them when she reached her destination. Within an hour after their release the birds were back in the coop. This system no notifies her parents of her safe return each week.

Mrs. Max Luton had the unique experience of being a stranger in her own home town last week. She and her daughter, Meellee arrived here Tuesday from Greeley, Colo., to spend Christmas with Mrs. M. Luton. Mrs. Max Luton came downtown Wednesday to do some shopping, slipped on some ice and was knocked unconscious. Several bystanders did not recognize what course to pursue, when finally a passer-by identified her. After it became known who she was, she was immediately rushed to the Gillette hospital for treatment of her injuries, which did not prove serious. Mrs. Luton had lived a number of years here prior to her residence in Colorado.
