A fire that broke out Wednesday morning in Wright has been contained.

The fire, which burned about 65 acres of grassland, was located north of Highway 387. Along with Campbell County Fire Department vehicles, Earth Work Solutions responded to the fire.

“We’re building the Wright roping arena and saw the fire,” said Brian Abner, superintendent with Earth Work Solutions. “I told my guys to gear up and go.”

The Earth Work’s crew took two, 3,500-gallon water trucks and a mechanical grader to help extinguish the blaze. Abner said his crew got to the scene right behind the fire department.

“We helped with the fire line and doused flames,” Abner said.

Within 15 minutes of arriving, the blaze was contained. No cause has been determined.
