Hitching Post arson suspect to be arraigned Oct. 9

CHEYENNE — A New Mexico man indicted on charges related to a 2010 fire that destroyed a landmark Wyoming hotel is to be arraigned next week.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports 44-year-old Robert Rodriguez is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 9 in Cheyenne, Wyo. An indictment alleges he purposely set a fire that destroyed the Hitching Post Inn to aid and abet mail and wire fraud. He faces a federal charge of arson and of using fire in the commission of another felony offense and aiding and abetting.
Court documents indicate he was arrested in Sandoval County in New Mexico. A complaint that might describe what led investigators to him has been sealed.
The Hitching Post had been a favored lodge and watering hole for Wyoming lawmakers.
