BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. — In a western South Dakota town, it’s getting more expensive to die — at least for people who want to be buried.
The cost of graves, burial and care of the grave site is going up Jan. 1 at the three cemeteries in Belle Fourche.
The city public works director tells the Black Hills Pioneer that city maintenance costs have gone up.
The price of an adult grave will be rising from $200 to $250.
The cost of making sure the gravesite is cared for is going up from $125 to $175.
Public works director Dirk Hoffman says the maintenance expense is a one-time fee.
