Jeffery Miles Marvin, 62, of Gillette died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at Fort Meade VA Medical Center of natural causes.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Black Hill National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D. Military honors will be provided by Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends are asked to gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis before going to the cemetery.
Mr. Marvin was born April 9, 1950, the son of Scott Wilbur and Marietta (Parks) Marvin in Hays, Kansas. His family moved to Newcastle in July 1959. He graduated from Newcastle High School in 1968. He was inducted in the Army 25th Infantry Division on Aug. 20, 1969, and was honorably discharged Oct. 29, 1970. He served in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart.
He married Elizabeth Ruby Spaulding on Feb. 22, 1989, and was divorced July 21, 1993. He then married Ruth Janette Bowen on Oct. 9, 1993, and was divorced Dec. 11, 1996.
He was creative in wood making projects. He enjoyed visiting with friends and he enjoyed a good ride on his Harley.
He will be missed greatly by his friends and family. Jeffery is survived by his sister, Carolyn Christine Marvin, his nephew, Michael Dean Marvin, and an extended family.
