Funeral services for John Leo Noonan will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Gillette Memorial Chapel with Kenna Rose officiating.

Burial will follow in the Moorcroft Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #42. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Gillette Memorial Chapel.

John Noonan, 86, of Gillette, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Close To Home Hospice of natural causes.

John Noonan was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Moorcroft, Wyo., the son of Thomas and Daisy C. (McLoughlin) Noonan. He was raised and educated in Moorcroft, graduating from Moorcroft High School in 1944. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II. After his honorable discharge he met and married Marie Terry on Feb. 14, 1953.

John worked several jobs in his lifetime before retiring from Campbell County School District in 1989. In his spare time, he loved to fish and hunt deer. John also loved to do crossword puzzles and watch sports, especially football.

John is survived by his wife, Marie Noonan of Gillette; son, Terry Noonan of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Debbie (Dick) Wallace of Gillette; and granddaughter, Tonya Wallace of Gillette.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

John worked at the school where I taught. I always enjoyed visiting with him after school. He was a gentle man. I will fondly remember him. Beverly White Sunday, March 10|Report this
