Laramie County schools grants foster innovation

Posted 2/4/13

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Laramie County School District has doubled the amount of money available for grants to encourage innovation.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (http://tinyurl.com/b2yld2p) the fund is now $20,000 a year.

Kathy Lee Montgomery, chairwoman of the council that oversees the grants, says the the money has funded such projects as interactive math work for elementary students, science gear and equipment for digital art portfolios.

The money is split evenly between high school projects and teachers in kindergarten through eighth grade. Any money left over at the end of the school year is returned to the district's general fund.
