Mr. Brenden, 82, died peacefully in his sleep, Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 14, 1929, in White Earth, N.D., to Adolph and Margaret (Lien) Brenden. He was raised and educated in North Dakota. As a young man, he worked on his family farm outside of Powers Lake, N.D.

While living in Ray, Mr. Brenden operated the local gas and service station. The family later moved to Columbus, N.D., where he owned and operated Brenden’s Auto until 1972, when they moved to Gillette and he began work for the Campbell County Road and Bridge Department. He eventually opened another Brenden’s Auto, which he operated until his retirement in the late 1990s.

In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to play his guitar, joke around and entertain his grandchildren with his magic tricks. He loved playing pool and having a beer or two with his family and friends.

Mr. Brenden is survived by his three daughters, Kathy Erisman, Bev Bowen and Diana Overby, all of Gillette; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters Evelyn Enget of Powers Lake and Avis Kincannon of Seattle; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife; Adeline; children, Clinton, Rick, Rodney and Deborha Brenden; three brothers, Orville, Elmo and Arlen Brenden; and two sisters, Olive Johnson and Sophie Enget.
