Funeral services for former Newcastle resident Matthew Jon Emmert of Rapid City, S.D., will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8 at The Country Church at Four Corners with the Rev. Bill Haley officiating.
Burial will follow services at Boyd Cemetery.
Mr. Emmert, 25, died of natural causes Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at the family ranch near Four Corners, north of Newcastle.
He was born March 18, 1987, in Newcastle, the son of Lawrence Dean Emmert and Twila Emmert.
As a young man, he was enrolled in Newcastle and Rapid City schools. He graduated from Western Dakota Tech with degrees in automobile and diesel mechanics.
He enjoyed his family, working on cars, bowling and four-wheelers. He was compassionate, caring, honest and loving.
Survivors include his father Lawrence Dean Emmert, mother Twila Kay Bonsell Willadson, brother Thomas Emmert, sister Amanda Jo Emmert, grandparents Russell and Leslie Bonsell and several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Larry and Joyce Emmert.
A memorial will be established at a later date in his name to bring awareness to bullying.
