Funeral service for Michael Eckenrod Jr., 30, of Gillette will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gillette Memorial Chapel, with Bishop Clark Melinkovich officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A potluck gathering will follow the service at the Edwards Shelter at Fishing Lake.
He died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Eckenrod was born June 18, 1982, to Michael James Eckenrod Sr. and Sharon Jean (Dobkins) Schmit in Laramie. As a young child, he moved to Gillette with his family and attended Campbell County schools. He worked for GCR Tire Center as a mining tire tech at Belle Ayr mine at the time of his death.
Mr. Eckenrod enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with friends. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed their gatherings together, but words could not describe how much he cared for and loved his daughter Meia. He had a caring spirit about him and wanted everyone to be happy.
He is survived by his daughter, Meia JoAnn Eckenrod; his father and stepmother, Linda; his mother and stepfather Ray Schmit; brothers, Sean Eckenrod and Ryan Schmit; sister, Pam Eckenrod all of Gillette; as well as many aunts uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather William E. Eckenrod Sr. and his great-grandparents.
