NPS takes comment on Colter Bay plans

JACKSON, Wyo. — Redevelopment plans for Colter Bay Village in Grand Teton National Park show a new, smaller visitor center and a smaller footprint overall.
Release of the environmental assessment this past week by the park opens a 30-day public comment period.
Grand Teton plans to redevelop the area at a cost of $9.5 million because the visitor center is old and has numerous deficiencies.
Grand Teton spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs says the visitor center was built in the late 1950s.
Skaggs tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide (http://bit.ly/RkYJSy) that the parking and the access roads can be downsized to remove some developed footprint and improve traffic flow.
Funding for the project isn't yet determined.
The National Park Service is accepting public comment until Sept. 13.
