Powell man agrees to plea deal in robbery case

Posted 12/26/12

POWELL, Wyo. — The attorney for a Powell man accused of a robbery earlier this month says her client is ready to accept a prison sentence as part of a plea agreement.

The Powell Tribune reports Monday (http://goo.gl/bZpYF) that the attorney for 38-year-old Obie Phillips says Phillips has agreed to plead no contest to eight of the 12 felony counts he faces. The plea would be in exchange for the dismissal of other charges against him and he would face up to 17 years in prison.

The details of the plea deal were announced in Circuit Court on Friday.

Authorities say Phillips robbed a home in Powell Dec. 11, taking a safe with about $3,300 and a shotgun. Prosecutors have charged three others in connection to the robbery.
