WASHINGTON — A person familiar with the move says the Washington Redskins have released kicker Graham Gano and replaced him with Billy Cundiff.
The person told The Associated Press about the move Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the team had yet to make a formal announcement. The move comes one day after Gano had appeared to win the kicking job. His lone competition, Neil Rackers, was cut on Monday.
Cundiff was cut Sunday by the Baltimore Ravens, who decided to keep rookie Justin Tucker.
Cundiff made the Pro Bowl in 2010, but last season he missed a potential game-tying, 32-yarder against New England in the waning seconds of the AFC title game.
