MISSOULA — Lincoln County authorities have recovered the remains of two Arizona men who were killed in a plane crash in northwestern Montana.
Sheriff Roby Bowe tells the Missoulian the remains of 54-year-old Carl Douglas and 43-year-old John Smith — both of Coolidge, Ariz. — were recovered by searchers on snowmobiles Thursday morning.
The airplane crashed late Tuesday night as Douglas and Smith were traveling to Libby for a Stinger Welding Inc. company Christmas party. Douglas is the CEO of the Arizona-based bridge component manufacturer. Its operation in Libby is one of the area’s largest employers.
The twin-engine Beechcraft was located Wednesday night about three miles northeast of the Libby airport.
