Report: Recommendations could save WyDOT $3M

CASPER, Wyo. — A new report says adopting recommendations by outside consultants could save the Wyoming Department of Transportation $3 million on five upcoming road construction projects.
The projects currently are projected to cost about $54 million.
The Casper Star-Tribune reports (bit.ly/URIoEm) Gov. Matt Mead requested the report. Some had criticized the department, saying the state agency could manage its funds better.
The consultants came from five engineering firms. Their recommendations include design changes that could make the projects less expensive.
The report comes out as Mead seeks additional funding to help WyDOT maintain the state's highways.
