Rhonda G. Murray, 56, of Hot Springs, S.D., formerly of Gillette, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at home due to lung cancer.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hot Springs Mueller Center with Bob Beninati officiating.

She will be remembered as always having a smile, for her laughter, for thoughtful acts of kindness, for her devotion to Jehovah and for her willingness to laugh at herself and others.

She was born in Rapid City, S.D., on May 29, 1956, to Edwin and Maxine (Andersen) Stocke. They raised her, her two sisters and brother in Sparks, Nev. Her childhood stories mainly consist of her quirky, fun and playful disposition.

She married the love of her life, Tom Murray, on Oct. 11, 1980. This marriage of 32 years was spent drinking coffee, laughing and raising two children. She also had the privilege of helping raise her stepdaughter.

They lived in Gillette for more than 20 years.

She was a proud grandmother and loved to play dress up with her “girlies.”

She dedicated her life to Jehovah by water baptism on April 22, 1989. From that point on, her life’s work was to share Bible truths with as many as she could. She believed that death is just a time of sleep, Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10; and that she will be resurrected to a paradise earth, Psalms 37: 10,11 and 29.

She deeply cared for her family and had many friends.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Murray of Hot Springs; son, Beau Murray of Ludlow, Vt.; daughters, Chelsea Lucey of Hot Springs and Angela Massey of Hot Springs; parents, Edwin and Maxine Stoke of Sparks, Nev.; brother, Edwin Stoke Jr. of San Diego; sisters, Lorna Southard of North Carolina and Sheila Wood of Reno, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

McColley’s Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be posted at www.mccolleyschapels.com or attached to the obituary at www.gillettenewsrecord.com.
