Robert “Bob” Eugene Daniels, 71-year-old former Upton resident, of Newcastle, passed away Jan. 27, 2013, at Rapid City Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Bob was born in Urbana, Ohio, on April 20, 1941, to Edgar and Glennadean (Hiltebran) Daniel.

Bob entered into a relationship with Jeannine (Harvel) in 1964 and they were later married. The couple moved to Arizona in 1972 where two daughters were born, Charlean and Elizabeth. They moved to Upton in 1975, where another daughter, Rebecca, was born. The couple resided in Upton until 1990, making their home in Newcastle where they were residing at the time of his death.

Bob had worked in construction, oil rigs and coal mining. He was a heavy equipment operator for Kerr McGee Coal Corporation, from which he retired after 18 1/2years.

Bob was a self-taught, hard-working man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working on vehicles, and passing his knowledge on to his family. His family was of utmost importance. He was always lending a helping hand when needed, not only to his children and grandchildren, but to friends and strangers as well.

Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeannine of Newcastle; their daughters, Charlean Sonesen of Newcastle, Elizabeth (James) Burgess of Spearfish, S.D., and Rebecca (Lance) Lehto of Gillette; his sons, Donald and Robert Daniels of Newcastle; his daughters from a previous marriage, Gloria (Mark) Cervany of Capser, Debra (Walter) Ford and Lisa Daniels, both of Columbus, Ohio; his sister, Sue (June) Mossbarger of Urbana; his grandchildren, Kyler (Destiny) Ford of Spearfish, and Trinnity and Tanner Potter of Gillette. Bob is also survived by two great-grandsons, Carter Ford of Spearfish and Andrew Daniels of Powell.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Glennadean Daniel; a brother, Tom Daniels; and a great-granddaughter, Kelsee Warrick-Ford.

Memorial services will be held on Feb. 8, 2013 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Weston County Senior Services.
